ULTRA-PAC Series
- DD28HF & DD34HF
Ingersoll-Rand introduces its newest line of high frequency
vibratory asphalt compactors designed specifically for main-line
paving contractors. The new DD-28HF and DD-34HF double drum vibratory
compactors offer high performance in ergonomically styled compact
packages. The ULTRA-PAC Series of compactors provide ultra
performance in the three critical areas of Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA)
compaction: productivity, density, and smoothness. Each DD-28HF
and DD-34HF has been manufactured to make you successful on every job.
Productivity for Demanding Schedule
As a leader in the compaction industry, Ingersoll-Rand understands the
needs of the Hot Mix Asphalt contractor. The DD-28HF and DD-34HF have
the industry's best frequency rating for faster rolling speed in
critical temperature- sensitive applications. These new compactors
also feature the largest fuel and water capacities. This combination
provides the longest and most productive operating intervals in their
class, allowing the machines to work harder while you work smarter.
Density When it Counts - EVERY JOB
Optimum drum performance results from the ideal combination of
amplitude, centrifugal force and frequency. The ULTRA-PAC's amplitude
provides application versatility, the centrifugal force provides the
energy necessary to achieve proper density, and the frequency provide
proper impact spacing. The designed output results in the most
effective and efficient compaction of the widest range of today's
complex materials.
Smoothness Speaks For Itself
The changing complexity of asphalt mixes makes achieving
smoothness challenging.
The key to a smooth finished product is proper impact spacing with a
smooth drum surface. The ULTRA-PAC's high frequency provides closer
impact spacing at a faster rolling speed. Each drum is manufactured
with robotic precision, machined across its entire surface, and
receives a chamfered edge to produce a smooth, professional quality
finish on every job. For tough, complex Hot Mix Asphalt conditions,
choose the ULTRA-PAC Series for ultra-smooth performance.
The ULTRA-PAC Series has been designed to optimize operator
comfort and
safety. Isolation of the vibratory drums, positioning of the
operator platform on the rear frame, plus 4-point isolation of the
operator platform from the frame minimizes vibration feedback to
the operator. The standard deluxe suspension seat can be adjusted
forward and backward to increase comfort and slides horizontally to
maximize visibility to the drum. The operator's platform is skid
resistant with safety kick plates. Convenient grab handles allow
access to the unit from both sides. The spring-applied
hydraulically-released parking brake with test switch, Roll Over
Protective Structure (ROPS), emergency stop switch, seat switch and
propulsion control with neutral start are all designed to provide a
safe work environment.
The
DD-28HF and DD-34HF both have a large capacity 79-gallon (299
liters), rotationally molded, polyethylene water tank, which
provides extended intervals between refills. The variable water flow
control and spring-loaded, self-adjusting, rubber wipers distribute
water evenly across each drum. The standard pressurized water
system is equipped with hand-serviceable water nozzles through
which water is filtered two times. In the automatic mode, water
flow is activated only when the compactor is in motion to further
extend refill intervals.
High
curb and low side clearances allow for efficient maneuvering
around curbing and other job site obstacles. Tubing is utilized in the
drum area to provide superior wall, curb and guard-rail clearance. The
ULTRA-PAC Series' small size, low sloping hood, and tight turning
radius allow the compactors to function effectively in confined
areas. The seat is positioned so that visibility to the rear of the
compactor is maximized while maintaining excellent forward visibility.
The
ULTRA-PAC Series has been designed with an extra emphasis on comfort,
simplicity and ease of use. Propulsion and vibration controls are
conveniently located to the right side of the operator's seat and
slide side-to-side with the seat for total control in each position. Automatic
vibration is a standard feature on the DD-28HF and DD-34HF. Drum
vibration can also be controlled manually by a button on the
propulsion lever.
The five daily check points are unobstructed and have been
positioned to make preventative maintenance easy and effortless.
The engine enclosure lifts easily, giving ground level access to the
engine, radiator, battery, and filters. Color-coded service charts
show detailed checkpoint locations, service intervals and proper
lubricants.
The DD-28HF and DD-34HF feature an engine designed for the most demanding
requirements. These compactors are equipped for full day operation
with the fuel-efficient, quiet, liquid-cooled Kubota 46 hp engine.
This reliable Kubota engine provides standard glow plugs for excellent
cold weather starting characteristics and supplied high horsepower to
weight ratios for superior operation in all conditions.
Ingersoll-Rand
utilizes new technology with the standard Twin Lock system to
provide unsurpassed gradeability and tractability. Twin Lock is a
traction control and torque transfer system that provides superior
drum control at all speeds an in both directions. In extreme grade
applications, Twin Lock's drum synchronization minimizes the
possibility of drum slippage which may cause imperfections on the
mat's surface.
Drums are constructed of durable carbon steel with thick
shells to provide a long life. Every ULTRA-PAC drum is machined to
achieve maximum symmetry with edges chamfered for optimum performance
on Hot Mix Asphalt. Each compactor offers the ideal combination
of drum width, centrifugal force, frequency and amplitude to provide
the most efficient compaction of HMA materials. This combination
allows for the highest versatility and the best overall performance,
making the ULTRA-PAC Series the contractor's first choice.
The DD-28HF and DD-34HF each have amplitude that was designed
specifically for Hot Mix Asphalt compaction. The vertical travel
of the ULTRA-PAC Series' drums effectively achieves density in tender
and harsh mixes.
With centrifugal forces of 8000 lbs. (35.6 kN) and 8300 lbs. (37
kN), the DD-28HF and DD-34HF provide drum outputs necessary to
achieve maximum density and smoothness in fewer passes. The forces are
increased proportionally to match drum width with overall output
ensuring maximum productivity. The operator can choose front drum
vibration only, both drums vibration or static mode.
Each ULTRA-PAC model has the highest frequency in its class
-4200 vpm. This frequency allows for optimum impact spacing at
higher rolling speeds providing a smooth, dense, quality pavement. The
ULTRA-PAC Series' frequency makes it the most productive and efficient
class of compactors available.
4,200 vpm / 12 impacts per foot x 88 fpm = 4.0 mph (6.4 km/hr)
